I’ve finally started working with vagrant to make development of the ansible roles I’ve also been working on easier. As the majority of the vagrant/ansible world out there seems to be very Ubuntu focused, I’ve decided to focus on getting some stuff out there for the latest version of CentOS. I like Ubuntu too, but I prefer the much longer support cycle of CentOS. I also thought it would be a great learning experience to build a vagrant box from scratch.
I’ve uploaded my box to atlas here and made it publicly available. You can add it to vagrant with:
|
1 2 3 |
vagrant box add correcthorse/Centos-7.1 |
Some technical notes:
- CentOS 7.1 (1503)
- 64 bit only
- default minimal install
- SELinux is disabled
- fully yum updated on 2015-04-28
- providers for virtualbox and vmware_desktop
I’m hoping to add more providers in the future. Hashicorp’s packer might help there, but I have not had a chance to experiment with that yet.
